A flower. 花見 is going to look at cherry blossom; 花火 is fireworks — fire flowers.
The sky, and heaven with it. 天国 is paradise; 天気 is the weather.
A chapter or volume of a longer work. The older form of 編 for counting written pieces.
Thick, and by extension strong. 太陽 is the sun; 太鼓 is a drum.
